Investigative Journalism: Social Justice

This is a shortened promotional video for an advanced video production class that I worked with last summer. I selected the topic, helped guide the class, edited the students work, and (as you will hear in the video) started the class with a question. The students generated questions, filmed, conducted interviews, and directed this video.

Curriculum Infused Video Production: The Social Scientist

This is a shortened promotional video for a social studies unit studied by my fourth grade class at Indianhead International School in South Korea. As we studied the different types of social scientists (Historian, Economist, Political Scientist, and Geographer), I asked them to think locally through the eyes of a social scientist. What would they have to say about the places and people that surrounded our school? I left a copy of this project inside the History Alive curriculum box. Each year the current fourth grade class can utilize this video, featuring kids they know and the surroundings in which they live.

E.A.B: Save a Tree

This is a shortened promotional video that I worked on as a freelance educational consultant and script writer. With a grant from the DNR, the objective of this film was to create a video that would introduce kids to the problem of the Emerald Ash Bore and it’s destruction of Ash Trees. I felt an effective way to accomplish this was to first show kids how this impacts their everyday lives, then empower them with information, and finally encourage them to spread the word by producing a music video. My goal is to create a contest with participating schools challenging students to make their own community cause video.
